This article is about objectivity and finding the best medium of visual communications. Paintings were determined to be subjective as well as photography. Film rose as the medium most fitting. However, the article says that films main fuction is propaganda and that the industry must be challenged to evolve into the next stage of realistic and factual replication.

Sontag aggrees saying that photography usurps reality. She thinks that even though a photograph is an event in time, someone does not understand the context of the situation if they just look at a photograph.
